Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority has announced that when a product or service is been paid with a cellphone and an error occurs, a reimbursement can be claimed also from a cellphone operator.

A cellphone is nowadays a similar means of payment as a credit card. With a cellphone one can purchase goods and services, like foodstuff, music, tickets, magazines and cellphone applications. If there is an error in a paid order or a purchase, can a consumer refrain from paying the payment or demand a reimbursement, in addition to the seller and service provider, from a cellphone operator.

Consumers’ right to demand for a reimbursement, from a cellphone operator, has its basis in various regulations. According to these regulations, cellphone operators have a similar kind of responsibility as credit card companies, in a situation where a consumer pays goods or services via cellphone and the payment is charged in a cellphone bill.
